The Impact of Stress: Idiosyncratic and Predictable

Stress is an expected aspect of life, particularly at work. However, is it not so much the stress itself that creates issues, rather how we respond to the stress (the degree to which we change, and how) that can get in our way. In this session we’ll explore groundbreaking research looking at how individual responses to stress predict engagement, performance, and tenure. Attendees will learn methods for measuring an individual’s response to stress and how stress impacts our profession identities. Additionally, practical strategies for increasing stress response awareness and actionable steps for increasing effectiveness through stress will be discussed.

Objectives:

Dr Casey Lankow

As Chief Psychology Officer, Dr. Lankow works directly with clients and organizations through training, executive assessment, and leadership coaching. Dr. Lankow holds Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Counseling Psychology. Lankow’s clinical experiences include forensic assessment, college counseling, individual therapy, supervision of graduate students, and organizational and team development. Dr. Lankow also teaches psychology at the graduate level at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
