You’ve heard it said that employees don’t quit jobs, they quit bosses.  So what can you do to develop the kind of workplace where people want to stay? In this interactive session, we will explore strategies to overcome retention barriers and practice offering meaningful recognition!  Come eager to engage, network, and learn from your peers in this interactive group discussion!

About Kim Ellsworth

Kim has a long history working with employee development, engagement, and training.  She worked as a staff educator at Essentia Health for several years before moving into a role as a volunteer supervisor.  In that role, she contemplated motivation and what “compensation” and “work” really mean. 

Kim moved on to a new challenge with the Department of Corrections, where she oversees the training department in Moose Lake.  Kim holds a BS degree in Communicating Arts and an MBA in Leadership and Change from The College of St. Scholastica.     




About Kathy Pykkonen

Kathy is the Corporate Learning and Development Manager for Cirrus Aircraft. In her current role she is responsible for building a leadership development pipeline across the company and an environment that encourages cooperation and collaboration in achieving company goals.

Prior to joining Cirrus, Kathy was the Director of Career Services at the University of Wisconsin-Superior and owner of Progressive Image Pro speaking on business and dining etiquette throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Kathy served in the active duty Air Force for 8 years where she completed her undergraduate work at Western International University in Behavioral Science and she has a Master of Science in Education from UW-Superior. Kathy is a board member for the Lake Superior Chapter Association of Training and Development, numerous civic groups and her children’s school. Kathy is originally from Northern Minnesota and has identical twin boys, Seth and Derek.
