Multimedia Learning - Training In The YouTube Era

Learning objectives:

1.      Free Resources on the Web for Videos You Can Use

2.      Learn the basics of creating a video for training

3.      Using video to expand beyond the training room

Description:

Training in the era of YouTube requires us to change the way we think about traditional training and communicating.  Chances are, if you have needed information about how to do something, you've watched at least one YouTube video yourself.  As a society, our attention and methods of learning have evolved and video is a powerful and prominent tool for educating and communicating.  Video has been proven to increase interactivity with content, engagement, and knowledge transfer.  Attendees will learn where to find and how to select free videos to incorporate in their training/presentations, as well as the basics on how to create videos themselves.  Additionally, attendees will come away with a knowledge of how video and multimedia can expand learning beyond the traditional in-person setting.

Sarah Mayne is an Operations Analyst and Project Manager with Superior Water Light & Power who began dabbling with videos years ago as a long distance college student.  Years of informally developing her storytelling and video skills led to Sarah branching out as a professional videographer in 2017.  In addition to dozens of non-profit, community, and corporate educational videos, Sarah also crafts Wedding Films and Documentary Films in the Twin Ports Area.   She holds an AA Degree from WITC, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Wisconsin Platteville, and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire.
