HAPPY HOUR: AN INTRODUCTION TO POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY

Learning objectives:

  1. Participants will be introduced to the field of positive psychology
  2. Participants will learn how to influence their work environment based on the concepts of positive psychology.
  3. Participants will be introduced to the happiness equation

Program description

Happy Hour is a research based presentation with an emphasis on skill building.  Participants will receive an overview of positive psychology and will "take-away" various tools they can implement in their lives such as building a positive portfolio.

Happy hour is a program that focuses on increased well-being at the work place and beyond.

Julie Zaruba Fountaine is the Wellness Coordinator at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. As the Wellness Coordinator for the College of St. Scholastica she works collaboratively with others on campus and in the community. She strives to inform and educate others from all cultural and international backgrounds with regard to personal health development and its relationship to the functioning of the larger community.

She received her Master’s Degree in Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Science from North Dakota State in Fargo, North Dakota. Along with attending various WELCOA University classes and ACE Lifestyle and Weight management classes she has attended Tobacco Cessation Specialist Training at the Mayo Clinic and the Professional Development Institute in Boston, MA. Currently Julie is enrolled in the MBA Change and Leadership program at the College of St. Scholastica. This enables her to promote wellness, prevent disease, and provide education as a Health Educator and Wellness Coordinator.
